Which roulette wheel to play: house edge compared

The wheel matters more than anything else you choose. Every bet on a wheel carries the same house edge (except La Partage on even-money bets and the five-number bet on a double-zero wheel), so the cheapest game is simply the one with the fewest zeros and the best zero rule.

• La Partage gives back half of any even-money bet (red or black, odd or even, high or low) when the ball lands on zero. Check the rules screen: a game called French Roulette doesn’t always use it.
• Multiplier roulette such as Luxe Multipliers or Flash Roulette pays big multipliers on some straight-up numbers, usually by paying less than 35 to 1 on the others. Check the payout table before you assume it’s a European wheel.
• Live or RNG, the edge is the same. A live wheel spins more slowly, so you lose less per hour at the same stake; an RNG wheel lets you play faster and bet smaller.

The numbers are stark. At Bovada or Ignition, a $500 deposit with the 100% welcome bonus has a 25x rollover on deposit plus bonus: $25,000 of slots, or $500,000 of roulette at 5%. Betting $25 a spin, you’d almost never finish, and the bonus is worth about −$500 on average, the whole deposit. Even if roulette counted in full it would be worth about −$40, because $25,000 of bets at 2.70% costs more than the $500 bonus.

No system changes the house edge.
